Swim with your HEART.

When your arms get tired, swim with your HEART.


Race day. One wave start. One mile. Open ocean. Many swimmers. Many variables.

We each showed up and swam our own race. But there was a collective pull, an energy; knowing we were among friends, training partners, passionate athletes. Whether we muscled through with burning lats, gasping breaths, and grinding strokes, or kept a smooth and steady pace, feeling each pull; we all swam with heart.

And we all had our mind giving us some series of statements- maybe it was “quit, this is hard”, maybe “I keep swallowing salt water”, or “was that a fin in the water!”, or “you got this, keep going”…. our mind plays into so much of how we show up, what we do when our training is behind us, and how we access our HEART- our passion, our drive, our attitude.

Do the results really matter? Maybe. But maybe not.

Where is your mind? Where is your heart? Are you smiling? Are you BEING Love? Are you BEING Inspired? Today I am grateful for each person who showed up and inspired me.

Keep Showing Up.

“Keep showing up” – Des Linden, Boston Marathon Champion 2018.

❤️ I heard Des speak on showing up- in training, in competition, in life. As I process her words and her successes and her underdog trials, I see the words Ned wrote in the sand. I see more than the “I’m Love” that he etched; I see showing up in all ways, saying yes, being Love.

I see that we all have 24 hours in a day, that each moment is a finite space; but within every moment is the opportunity to show up with heart, passion, grit, connection, and make that moment Big.

Because many times, the little things are the big things. The note in the sand, riding bikes with friends at the crack of dawn, ocean swims, sunset surfing, cheers to Friday nights together, a spontaneous after dinner walk, silly faces while brushing your teeth….

To keep showing up is being grateful, acknowledging how precious each interaction is, being vulnerable, knowing depth, taking risk, opening heart. Choosing to BE Love.

Training through Pain.

I’m Train through pain. “Pain teaches us what success never will.” I work hard. Every day. I wake up before the sun and I run. I move my body on land, in the water, in the yoga studio. I lift weights. I do handstands. I do push-ups. I do it for me. It is as much of a mental workout as a physical one. Discipline and focus and presence. I move because it forces me to breathe deeply, using breath as an anchor to ground me and connect my mind and body. I move because humans are better when they move. I am intense because it makes me feel deeply. I want to feel because I have a lot inside me to be released…And through all the workouts, I actually never thought of it as training. Just moving. So when someone asks what I’m training for, my response is, “Life.” …. And that response brought to light a payoff for this rigorous Life Training… injury… a supposed-to-sideline-you-injury. Part of my body was broken, but it was also primed to heal. The muscles surrounding the injury were strong. Every system in my body had been trained to heal through multiple micro-traumas over time. My body and mind were trained to face adversity and prepared to encourage healing. I sent all my energy to re-building while I did what I know best, moving. I am certain that I have healed faster than a body not conditioned, not prepared for trauma. I am confident that moving is strength and breathing is the connecting bridge.

It’s not about the run, swim, yoga, push-ups…. it’s how we prepare our body and mind; it’s who we become through training…for Life. 🌊❤️#imlove #trainingforlife #passion
